Poorly constructed sentence of uncertain meaning

[edit]

Regular television broadcasts in the United Kingdom started in 1936 as a public service which was free of advertising, while the introduction of television and the first tests commencing in 1927. Up to the comma makes sense; the rest is incomplete. And if it is referring to an earlier situation, it should be placed first. This is not how the word while should be used, even if the sentence was complete. Koro Neil (talk) 13:09, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Free channels and bbc

[edit]

BBC listed as largest public broadcaster in the world and goes on to list all bbc channels as "free". Hardly free when we have been forced into paying for this for many decades. Scrap the licence fee THEN see how well it does 80.4.2.193 (talk) 15:51, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
